Set in the 1800´s, Dutch gardener Meneer Chrome (Ewan McGregor) is contracted by Thomas Smithers (Pete Postlethwaite) to create an extravagent garden for his wife Julianna (Greta Scacchi) at their secluded country estate. Julianna´s cousin Fitzmaurice (Richard Grant), who arranged for Chrome´s services, has plans to bankrupt Smithers and win the heart of his cousin before they discover the true identity of Chrome. Now one man´s passion and another´s obsession are about to collide...with the force of nature.
